What is the difference between vertical and horizontal machining centers?

CNC machining centers are precision machine tools with integrated automation and other features. As CNC machine tools, horizontal and vertical machining centers have many differences.

1. Spindle direction
The spindle of the vertical machining center is perpendicular to the workbench and 90° to the ground. The tool cuts from top to bottom. It is suitable for processing plane, hole and flat parts. The spindle of the horizontal machining center is parallel to the workbench and horizontal to the ground. The tool cuts from the side and the workpiece can rotate horizontally. It is suitable for processing multi-faceted complex parts.

2. Processing efficiency and flexibility
Vertical machining centers are simple to operate, easy to clamp, and have high production efficiency for small batches and single pieces. However, processing complex multi-faceted workpieces requires multiple clampings, which affects efficiency. The horizontal machining center can complete multi-faceted processing in one clamping, which has obvious advantages in mass production.
